Wendy Blight Visits…..

I am thrilled to have Wendy Blight stop by for a visit on my blog today.  There are not enough words to describe the special place she holds in my heart.  Her book Hidden Joy literally changed my life.  If you have deep hurts that are causing you to live with bitterness, anger and maybe even hatred in heart, I encourage you to read her book.  Wendy has a special message today:

Veronica, thank you for inviting me to be a guest on your blog today.  But even more, thank you for being such a blessing in my life.  You have a beautiful servant’s heart, and I am so thankful to call you friend.

As I prayed about what to write, the Lord laid on my heart a woman who feels unworthy, unimportant, average, and most of all without purpose. At one time, that woman was me.   What is my purpose God? How could you ever use me?

But as I journeyed with God through some painful years, years I believed would never have any value in my life, He taught me very powerful Truths.

For those of you sitting in the place I just described, this post is for you.  May you never forget God created you with a special purpose.  He says in His Word…

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
Your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
~Psalm 139:13-16

God says in Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.

Sometimes we hear a voice whispering in our ear:  You are unworthy. God could never use you. But Jesus tells us in His Word that words like these have one source and one source only.  They are spoken by the evil one, the one Jesus identified as “the father of lies” in whom there is no truth.  He seeks to steal, kill, and destroy all that is God’s and all that is good.

You, sweet friend, are God’s child.  As His child, you are good.  Satan’s goal is to keep you from believing this and prevent you from being the wonderful creation God created you to be.

Please, please do not listen to him. Instead of believing lies, believe TRUTH from the One Who says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”

Hear Truth from God’s Word today:

You are LOVED

with an everlasting love. (Jeremiah 31:3)

You are PRECIOUS and VALUABLE

your name engraved on the palm of His hand. (Isaiah 49:16)

You are WORTHY

for He gave the life of His only Son, Jesus Christ, for you. (John 3:16)

You are FORGIVEN

you need only repent of your sin. (Acts 3:19)

You are REDEEMED

the old is gone and the new has come…in Christ you are a new creation! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

You are SAVED FOR A PURPOSE

one which He specially created for you. (Ephesians 2:10)

Will you believe with me today that God created you for a great PURPOSE…one that only you can fulfill?

If you don’t know that today, promise me you’ll spend time in these verses and ask Your Father in heaven to make them very real to you! As I close this post, I am going to pray for each one of you that God brings here today…pray that this is a day you will have an amazing God moment…where you KNOW that you KNOW He is working in your midst, listening to the cry of your heart. He desires to heal your hurt and bring you back to wholeness.

I am praying for you!

And if you have a story or truth you would like to share on this topic, please leave a comment today.  From the comments left, I will choose a winner to receive a signed copy of my book Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner:  The Transforming Power of God’s Story.

Veronica, thank you again for allowing me to be your guest.  I pray the Lord uses the words He laid on my heart to bless and encourage someone today!

Blessings,

Wendy

Thank you so much Wendy for guest posting today.  For all the visitors here today, check back later in the month for a follow-up to this post from me.  God’s timing is always perfect.  At the exact moment that Wendy sent this to me, God had just whispered to me my own special purpose.

Hidden Joy IS life changing, grounded in scripture, written by someone who knows exactly what it means to be fearful and have shattered dreams.  Wendy’s journey to healing shows that God redeem any shattered dream and making it so much more.  I don’t just believe in it, I am living proof, so I too will be giving away a copy of Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner:  The Transforming Power of God’s Story.  Leave a comment for Wendy and she will pick TWO winners to receive a signed book!  Thank you all for visiting today.

  1. What a blessing to see you here Wendy on Veronica’s blog. It is because of the Hidden Joy study last year that Veronica has become such a special friend to me. We were together in the first OBS prayer group. What a blessing that was and those friendships still are today. Thank you for this post Wendy. It is so important to remember our significance in the Lord’s eyes. It is so easy to try to get our needs met and our significance from the world but it is fleeting and often leaves us so bereft for true appreciation, love and acceptance. Thank you for the reminder that we are special precious and wonderfully made in God’s eyes. Love you V, Love you Wendy. ~Hope

    • Thanks Hope love you too!!! I am so thankful that so much came out of the HJ study, not only healing but our HJ group that is still together. I couldn’t imagine my life without talking to you girls daily.

    • Hope, your words are so wise: “the world…is fleeting and often leaves us so bereft for true appreciation, love and acceptance.” Thank you for affirming the message the Lord gave me for today.

      Blessings,

      Wendy

  2. I love Wendy, her heart, her book and the message God has given her!! I also love this topic…I actually went to She Speaks with a book proposal titled, “Who am I? – Seeking God’s Answer to an Age-Old Question.”

Another Truth I cling to is – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV)

The best way to find our identity is to grow closer and closer to Christ…no one knows us better than the God who created us!! Thanks to both of you for sharing!

    • Thank you for stopping by today. I love how you finished your post about Christ knowing us better than anyone else.

How did your book proposal meeting go? Great title!!!

    • Jill, that 2 Corinthians verse is one of my favorites and one I clung too for a long time. I just love that in Him, the “old” me is gone, and the “new” me is here, ready and waiting to be filled with the good things God has for me!!! Thank you for sharing this verse of hope today.

      Love you,

      Wendy

  3. I needed to hear this today. My husband of five years abandoned me and our two small children 6 months ago. I’m starting to find Gods purpose for my life , even in the midst of this.

    • Elizabeth I am so sorry to hear this, I can’t imagine the heartbreak you have been feeling. I pray that the truths Wendy pointed out help you to know that no matter what your husband did – you are a TREASURE, you are very IMPORTANT, you are VALUABLE. You are God’s masterpiece, remind yourself of that every day – hundreds of times a day if needed. I will keep you in my prayers.

    • Elisabeth, I am so sorry for what you are journeying through, but I LOVE that you are looking for and seeking after God’s will in it. He will bless and reward you for doing so. I pray that He will show you in very real and powerful ways His great Love and Provision for you and your sweet children. I pray you will see Him show up in your lives in very personal ways that allow you to see His hand intricately at work!! Lifting prayers for you now.

      Blessings,

      Wendy

  4. I have trouble thinking God wants me and stuff cause I feel yucky and as though He couldn’t love me no matter what. even when I read my bible I still can’t believe him

    • Doreen I had those same feelings. I lived with them every day for 38 years. I knew how to say all the right things but inside I felt yucky – worse I felt dead on the inside. The first step was to believe the truths Wendy shared. To really believe them – each time I felt those yucky feelings come up, I had to repeat out loud the truths. It didn’t happen quickly but slowly I could tell my thoughts and feelings were changing. I pray that you will repeat these truths to yourself every day all day long, believing them so that one day slowly you too will notice the yucky feelings fade away.

    • Doreen, it hurts my heart to hear you say you can’t think about God wanting you. Oh, sweet friend, He wants you sooo much!! He is waiting for you to come to Him and let Him show you all the wonderful parts of you He has created and the gifts He has given you. If there is anything in your past that you think makes you “yucky,” you need only confess them to Him and He will remove them as far as the east is from the west!! In Him, as Jill said above, the old is gone and the new has come. Please take the truths in this post and begin to meditate on them and digest them. BELIEVE them for they are TRUTH!! God has a wonderful plan for you life, and He is waiting to unfold it before your very eyes!!

      Blessings,

      Wendy

  5. Thanks for your post, Wendy and Veronica. I started working my way through Hidden Joy a couple of weeks ago and have been in Chapter 3 this week. God is leading me to a deeper appreciation of His Word and what it can do in my life. 2 Timothy says his word is useful, which says to me we should be DOING something with it. Prov. 4:4 says to lay hold to His word with all your heart. The cross-references for “lay hold” all talk about walking in obedience to God’s commands, So it’s not just about clinging to God’s word, gaining hope and power from it, but’s also about knowing it, obeying it, and letting it do the work in our hearts and lives that God intended it to do. I’m looking forward to laying hold and understanding what God wants from me in this season of my life!

    • Amen, Christa!! You have got it, girl! I just love how you dug deeper to determine what “lay hold” means. That is how we bring that word alive to apply to us today. Veronica, I see a Bible teacher in the making. 🙂

Thank you for sharing how Hidden Joy has encouraged you in Bible study. Your words are an answer to the prayers I prayed as I wrote Hidden Joy. May God continue to bless and grow you as you spend time with Him in His Word.

      Blessings,

      Wendy

  6. Wendy I thoroughly enjoyed your guest post. It really spoke to my heart. I am on a healing journey myself. Hurt, disappointment, regret, the whole horrible mess. I appreciate the opportunity to enter this giveaway, I am sure you’re sharing will help me and make me answer the questions I know are still deep inside. Kind Regards Mandy Currie (mandycurrie@googlemail.com)

    • I pray through your journey you come to know your value, worth and identity in Jesus. My journey was a long one filled with so much pain, hurt, disappointments….I was amazed and how He was able to release that from me when I started to have a personal relationship with Him. I pray the same is true for you my friend.

    • Thank you for the sweet words of encouragement, Mandy. Veronica and I prayed for this post to speak into the hearts of women who need to know God’s hope and their identity in Him. Praying as you seek Him for answers, He will answer and provide for you exceedingly abundantly all you could ever ask or imagine!!

      Blessings,

      wendy

  7. I think I need those words on a magnet on my fridge and taped to the dash of my car and on my bathroom mirror and tattooed on my arm – ok maybe not that one. The lies are so loud and persistent at times. The truth can be hard to hear and even harder to believe. Thanks for the reminder.

    • Chris, I pray the Lord will help you take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. I pray He will give you a truth for every lie Satan wants you to believe. I pray you will come to believe deep in the marrow of your bones who you are in Him!!!

      Blessings,

      Wendy

  8. Thanks so much for the encouragement today. I sometimes feel this way, not as much as I use to though because God is doing a new thing in my life. Praise His name! I need to be reminded constantly.

    • How wonderful to hear that you see and know God is doing a “new thing” in your life. There is no better place to be…hearing His voice, finding His purpose, and following His path!!! Praying you will continue to keep your eyes on Him and hear His voice as He says, “This is the way, my child, walk in it!”

      Blessings,

      wendy

  9. Veronica,

Thank you for inviting me share the message God laid on my heart on your blog this week. The comments have blessed me. I love seeing how God used this message to meet women right where they are and to encourage them. You are a dear friend, and I pray God will continue to use you to minister to women and draw them closer to Him and to His living and active Word.

    Love you,

    Wendy

    • Wendy thank you so much for the truth you speak into my life, for the love you have for women who are hurting. For your friendship and most importantly for allowing God to use your story. Love you always ❤
